Konrad
K. Pollesch was born in april 1940. From 1958 to 1963 he studied Polish
philology at the Jagiellonian University. He visited many countries,
among which are: Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy
and Sweden. He has been to the USA twice as a scholar - the first time
from the Kosciuszko Foundation (1979), then from the State Department
(1988). He is involved in portrait and landscape photography. He is
also specialized in photographing pieces of art and documenting
cultural events. He is the author of the photographs from a series
"Museums of the World" and two monographic, author's publication about
the Czartoryski Museum in Cracow. He co - operates with a number of
magazines in Poland and abroad. Between 1987 and 1990 he documented the
Tadeusz Kantor's theatre Cricot 2, which resulted in organizing the
following exhibitions: "I will never come back here - photographs from
the rehearsals", Cricoteka, Cracow 1988; "Kantor in the Pollesch's
photography", Palace under the Sheep, Cracow 1989, "Kantor and his
theatre", The Cultural Centre of Nowa Huta, Cracow 1992; "Kantor - the
second anniversary of his death", Atelier Photographic Gallery, Cracow
1992; "Tadeusz Kantor fotografato da Pollesch", the Polish Institute,
Rome, December-January1995/1996. He has over 50 individual exhibitions in his art output, in Poland and abroad, for instance USA, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Israel, Czechoslovakia, and France. Works of the artist can be found in the collections of the National Museum in Cracow, National Museum in Wroclaw, National Museum in Warsaw, Museum of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Museum of the History of Photography in Cracow, Museum of Modern Art in New Ÿork, International Center of Photography in New York, Library of Congress in Washington, Musee d'Art et d'Histoire in Fryburg (Switzerland) as well as in many private collections in Poland and abroad. |
